syntax — Terms of Service

Last updated: June 28, 2026

Welcome to syntax. By using the syntax website, app, extension, or embed widget ("the Service"), you agree to these terms.

1. What syntax is

syntax is a writing and accessibility tool — it helps you research, write, read, and improve text, including read-aloud and readability features. AI suggestions are assistance, not guarantees of accuracy; you are responsible for your own work. syntax does not provide professional legal, medical, or financial advice, and nothing in the Service should be construed as such.

2. Accounts and plans

Some features are free. Paid plans (Pro, Student) unlock additional features. You're responsible for keeping your login secure.

3. Billing — no surprises

4. Acceptable use

Don't use syntax for unlawful purposes, to harm others, or to misrepresent authorship of work you didn't do. syntax's coaching is designed to help you learn and to help you prove your work is your own.

5. Your content

You own the text you create. You grant us only the limited permission needed to provide the Service to you (for example, processing the text you choose to run through an AI feature). We don't sell your content.

6. Accessibility features

syntax is designed for accessibility. Read-aloud, readable/dyslexia mode, and similar features are provided to assist accessibility. They are assistive tools, not medical devices, and are provided "as is." syntax does not claim certification under ADA, WCAG, Section 508, or any other accessibility standard; use of these features does not constitute legal compliance advice.

7. Disclaimers and liability

The Service is provided "as is," without warranties, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the prior 12 months.

8. Changes

We may update these terms; we'll post the new date above and, for material changes, notify you.
